Resource Registry: Data Analysis

The research group focuses on data-related research and development within a cross-disciplinary space. The research group aims to develop and advance methodologies, algorithms, tools and techniques in a holistic manner within the field of data science by working in the following areas: Data Wrangling, Data Mining, Data Analysis and Visualisation, Data Engineering, Data Science, Machine Learning Engineering, Fairness, Accuracy, Confidentiality, Transparency, Security (FACTS) and Discrimination in Data.

The Department of Geography, Geoinformatics & Meteorology (GGM) at the University of Pretoria (UP) provides a variety of geospatial information services to UP staff and students. These services include: geospatial data analysis, map visualization techniques, access and management of geographic information as well as GIS Software Support and Training. A mapping service is also available to those that require specific maps for publication or research purposes.

The Mathematics in Industry Study Group is a one week workshop where leading academics and top students from Universities across South Africa and abroad, meet and work in groups to solve real-world industry problems. Organisations and corporate companies are encouraged to submit problems that are of current importance to South African industry.

The Study Group participants employ a wide variety of techniques such as programming, mathematical modelling, and big data analysis, to develop creative solutions to these real-world problems which ultimately contribute to the development of South Africa.
